On the Roads to CANSAT : PART 2

It was mid April, Our Flight operations were scheduled to be held on June 13th and June 14th in Amarillo Texas. We had loads of work to do, I was pretty lazy expecially to go and work in the Lab. It was rishabh who used to do the dirty work of waking me up and getting me to work. His absence was felt soon and i realized that i had to do something to get things going at least at the same pace ...if not faster...

I shifted my bedding into our Robotics lab , this was one way i could keep my focus on work and stay in the lab for as much time possible... I remember there were weeks i stayed in the lab all alone @ 16 degrees of Room Temperature... courtesy our wonderful Air Condition. This did help, I soon finalised the Fabrication Schematic for our Chip Design with a better and more reliable microcontroller , we used a 128 KB flash chip with 2 USARTs which completely made our work easy in terms of removing the necessity of a multiplexor to get both the transiever and the GPS running at the same time. Once i finalised the design i wanted it to be rechecked by someone as you often dont realize your mistakes. I did get it rechecked by some of my seniors and gave the final schematic for Fabrication.

In the mean time we worked on the firmware , there were some personal distractions that i started to face during this period but i managed to move on within 2-3 weeks... Our fabricated Design arrived by May 2nd week. We began programming our firmware as soon as we got the chip fixed but things dint seem so easy as we thought it would be. We weren't able to program our Chip, something had gone wrong and we couldn't figure out what it was. We spent the whole night frustrated and went straight back to the fabricators the next morning to figure out the problem. Then we realised that we had used the wrong MOSI and MISO pins for the programming interface, luckily i had kept the pins PI and PO open and had provision for a change.

Once we got our chip running , it dint take much time to get the firmware running on our system. Our fabricated chip looked something like this :

Our firmware was fast and running , it was time for some real testing to be done. We started moving around the campus... climbing on the newly constructed building... checking GPS data .. configuring packet informations and looking at accuracy of our External Antenna which we procured at the last moment as we realized that a micro-chip antenna would not be good enough. When the range testing was being done we were getting a range of around 500 m with our new antenna. Our manual predicted its range to be around 6 miles but we weren't able to get it. Interference in the Mobile range was a factor we had not neglected so we came up with a conclusion that it might work to higher ranges at US and we should go for it with the present antenna itself. Once all the Electronics were tested along with the Software Interface we started working on the structure and got all the components fixed on the structure of CANSAT. Ankush did a pretty great job in getting everything fixed in a very systematic manner. The system worked very well when we did a dummy parachute test of the Landing.

...It was June 8th and we had almost finished with all the testing and working on the CANSAT. We started packing and were ready for it. It was our first time and we also dint know the pre-factors involved. All i wanted was to avoid failure and get all my systems working on the D - day. I dint want all our 6 months effort to go futile with our sensors or systems failing at the last moment. I had taken spare chips for each and every part of the CANSAT. There was a spare parachute as well... ;)

The other members who were going were together but i had a different flight path as i had to go for my Internship in France right after the Competition. I dint get much time to prepare for the journey , i even forgot to take a digital camera with me... ;) all i wanted was to succeed in the competition. It would be a great achievement if an Indian team could break into the top 5 in its first attempt itself.

We reached Dallas on June 12th evening, i had come from Delhi via Chicago to dallas. It was a pretty long trip but i enjoyed it... ( i got wonderful company )

We reached Amarillo in the morning and once we reached our Hotel we took a small nap and reported at Holiday Inn. We were asked to meet them at the Competition Briefing at 3 PM. We went back to our hotels and worked on fixing our CANSAT back to shape. We managed to get everything working before 3 , we reached there on time to get our Central Ground Station tested. It worked in the first try itself... we had a superb reception , we were happy that our firmware worked. This was the only part we dint get a chance to test so we had our fingers crossed... Once things worked correctly in our trial we were pretty happy. Our briefing went well and we retired for our dinner at a Chinese restaurant nearby. The day before the competition was pretty calm for me, I knew that i had done what i could do and there is nothing much we could do by thinking about tommorow. I had a good nights sleep and we started of for the D day in the morning at 8 AM from our Hotel to the Launch Center. Once we reached there , we had breakfast and got our Tents fixed. We set our Ground Station and made last minutes arrangements on our table. Everything seemed to work perfectly.

Our Launch was scheduled at 12 PM so we enjoyed the other launches and followed up with their results. Team Maryland and Alabama had finished their task successfully. Soon it was our turn and we were ready on time for our launch , we got a good rocket and had all the pre-flight preparations on time. At the Launch Window all i could do was pray for a successful flight. The Count-down began and i knew ... this was it ! zoom .... went the rocket and within a sec it disappeared into the cloudy skies.

I went straight to avi to find out about the reception of telemeter data and he showed me that he had stopped receiving data once the rocket had gone up. We waited for 15 minutes and then looked for our Landed satellite. We found it pretty fast with the GPS data. At the Landing site we looked at the CANSAT and found that everything was fine and working. ALL the data was supposed to be stored in the Memory so we still had hope to win inspite of communication failure. This was how our day ended and in the evening when i downloaded the data from the memory , i found out that the problem was in the range of the antenna as it had recieved commands from the relay satellite once the repeater was brought close. We prepared a good post-flight review with lots of analysis based on our GCS interface.

My post flight review presentation next morning went well and we got a good response from the crowd. I was infact expecting to win atleast the 4th or the 5th position as we had complete data analysis inspite of our communication failure. The results were announced soon after the presentations ended and i was disappointed as we lost a position just by 2 points. We ended up 8th in the final rankings.

Well if we look at it in a way , it wasnt bad... its just that the pain lingers... One small mistake and you fall a step behind complete success... There is always a limit to what a person can expect but i knew that we had it in us to be a complete winner..all that we had missed was we dint get a higher decibel antenna to work on. Whatever happened the pleasure of such a wonderful experience is what counts the most, the pleasure to have competed with the worlds best universities and show them that we are equally competent, the prestige of showing that students from IIIT-Hyd are as good as the top 20 colleges in the world is an experience worth living. We were the trend setters and no one could deny it, we did what we could and we know that thou we missed out on a few dollars of prize money we had earned lots of respect !!

That is what Counts....................

On the Roads to CANSAT : PART1

"IIIT,Hyd beats MIT in CANSAT 2009"

This was how our very own IIITians were celebrating the decent performance shown by the IIIT Hyd Team in CANSAT 2009. Incidently this was the first Indian Team to have qualified in this prestigious competition organized by the American Astronautical (AAS) Society and the American Institute for Astronautics and Aeronautics (AIAA) and Sponsored by NASA(i guess i dont need to expand this one... ;-) )

CANSAT as it is named is a combination of Can and Satellite. Our Task was to make a Pico Satellite in the shape of a can which would be able to Telemeter Remote Sensing data on descent after being launched to a height of nearly 2kms and then land safely and collect science data from the position it had landed.

The CANSAT would be tracked based on the Landing Position sent to the Team's own Ground Station and the Central Ground. This was briefly what we were asked to do..

Here i go about narrating my journey from my little cosy Lab to the Launch Centre at Amarillo Texas......

It all began with a mail sent by our Team Leader Sudhir Gupta. He was looking for potential team-mates for this endeavor. The first time i read his mail i was very skeptical about what he had written in his mail. I dint figure out how India would be able to participate in this event as it was clearly mentioned in the Competition Website that only Teams from US,Canada,Mexico and UK were allowed to take part.

My doubts were cleared once we had our First CANSAT Meeting with all the members who had RVSP'd to his mail. Some of the faces were familiar and some weren't. Our First Meeting began with the Introduction of Members and then Sudhir and Vinay Pandit explaining us the details about the Problem Statement and how the whole competition was structured into Different Levels. When we went about discussing , i figured out that the whole challenge involved a lot of Electronics. The complete concept behind this event was to bring out the students from the fields of Computer Science , Mechanical and Electronics to work together and make a fail proof System.

This was when i could feel the excitement within me, the very idea to work on your own Satellite and compete with the Best Colleges in the world was a good enough reason to go for it... This was a new challenge altogether , it was an opportunity for me to actually apply all those boring and meandering concepts of Embedded Systems and Communications. I could feel it that this was something big , but at the same time i could feel the pressure that came along... I could see that the number of ECE students in our team wasn't enough. I then put forth my point to the members that we would need another senior ECE member as i was the only one from 3rd year ECE and the other two members Rupen and Amey were 2nd year and 1st year ECE students who dint have much experience at that point of time.

It was then when Rishabh Ranjan my batchmate joined our Team. Dr Rajan our Team Advisor and Professor of LSI (Lab for Spatial Informatics) was really helpful and encouraged us a lot from the first day itself. I was appointed the Alternate Team Leader and the Electronics Team Lead. The whole team was divided into 3 major Parts, the other two being Structural Design headed by Sudhir Gupta and Software Design headed by Avi. Our initial target was to create a concrete plan on how to go about building such a system. The whole process involved us creating a complete blueprint of the whole satellite on paper with different stages of planning and Implementation. Lot of hours were spent just discussing and planning out how the whole system would be developed. A complete schedule of 6 months of concrete work was prepared. All the Heads were allocated work in parallel keeping in mind the major deliverables of Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Review before the final D day arrived 6 Months Later.

For the next month around January, we just went about making a small Development Kit on a Vector Board as we dint have any Components till then. Our development Kit was made using an ATMEGA 16 microcontroller and a two way Zigbee communication Interface with the Laptop. I knew that we wouldnt get all the components till the Late end of February so we would need to make our own kit on a PCB. Thus our first advent began with making a small communication interface with the laptop which could use a dumb terminal emulation program to communicate in a duplex manner. By the Preliminary design Review we worked a lot on the planning and search for Hardware requirements. Most of the components were not available in India and had to be imported from US. Specifically the GPS sensor and AC 4790 transiever were a big problem as none of us had worked with it before.

Our PDR deliverable went smooth and the Organizers were indeed happy with the level of Design given by an Indian Team. I guess they weren't expecting much from us :P... Soon we started working further and developed the Temperature and Pressure Sensor modules on our PCB development Kit. Both the modules worked pretty fine individually as well as together. We had interfaced an LCD in the Remote Satellite End so that debugging would be easier. We soon started generating packets of Temperature and Pressure data and sent them across to our Laptops. Our Main Hardware was on the way from different parts of the world... We were a little behind our Planned Schedule because of the delay in Hardware Components.

Half of the Time between the PDR and HWR(Hardware Design Review) was spent waiting for the Components to arrive. There was another fucking problem.... We weren't legally allowed to work on the Frequencies of 900 to 928 MHz as they were in the regions of our GSM mobile phones used in India. That contributed to a delay in shipping those transievers to India, but finally we managed to get it from our Professor Dr. Rajan's Relatives. By then the GPS sensor had arrived. We had never worked on GPS sensors before but the great thing was it was the most reliable sensor in our System. The sensor worked overnight without much hassles. We quickly shifted our focus back to the AC 4790 and waited patiently for its arrival.

Our HWR went smooth and the big Critical Design Review was on the way. We were working on the AC4790 Module. The whole thing was pretty different from zigbee as we had to use the API protocol in th Addressing mode against the option of transparent communication in Zigbee. AC4790 also involved further complications of programming the EEPROM of the device and configuring the correct settings. With all these difficulties and sleepless nights we still weren't able to communicate with the transiever. It had been a week of study and we dint get results. I had been busy with the R & D showcase and couldn't work with Rishabh and Rupen. They were the guys who worked in Labs all night tryin to fix the creepy problem , and yeh they finally did it... We got our Communication system working and were able to generate complete packets both from the Temperature cum pressure module and the GPS module.

It was time for us to keep a secondary storage in our System. Our Critical Design Review went really well. We had a couple of hiccups communicating with the american organizers but on the whole it was flawless. The strange thing was our mentors dint give us reviews , we were all on our own and dint have anyone to lookup to incase of technical problems. The software group was also working on Time along with us , Structural group was facing some problem due to the unavailability of Rip-stop Nylon. Working as a team does help as the stress and problems can be divided amongst each other...

Our memory Chips arrived and we interfaced that pretty well to our AT-Mega 16 board. We then had finished interfacing all independent modules on our development board. This meant that we were ready for the final Implementation and Fabrication of our Module. Endsems had approached and that meant that we would soon be loosing our valuable team-mate Rishabh as he would be going to Singapore for his Internship. Rishabh had done his part and all we could complain was to stop him from going and stay with us to see the finished model of the System. After he had left it was just me and rupen with all the baggage on our shoulders....

That was when i realized that all we had done yet was to familiarize with the interfacing of components. We had to rebuild the whole system with a completely different micro-chip and writing of the whole firmware was left... Fear grew so did our motivation... I just knew one thing... we had to do it... One way or the other.. We had to complete it...

Read about how things actually happened and the experiences on the Final Day in my Next Post....

Gotta Win!

I have a spark in my heart
The crazy desire to win
however i may have to start,
but in the end i Gotta Win!

If i want a thing bad enough,
i would go out and fight for it,
Work day and night for it,
But in the end i Gotta Win!

Life seems empty and dark without it,
Whatever it takes, plan for it,
Loose all the terror of god or man for it,
But in the end i Gotta Win!

Neither fear nor pain can suppress my hunger,
the spark starts getting even more larger,
flames of success enlightens the darkness,
strength, sagacity and everything else that i can harness.
Whatever it takes but in the end i Gotta Win!

Failures are just a stepping stone to success,
makes me even more harder and stronger,
Gets me focused on what im missing,
Helps me get back on focus,
Whatever it takes but in the end i Gotta Win!

A plan is only good if it Is one that gets recruited.
For good intentions soon will die ,Unless they're executed.
Whatever it takes for me im ready to do,
Itz only about winning that i have to make sure to

I have a spark in my heart
The crazy desire to win
however i may have to start,
but in the end i Gotta Win

Crazy Crap!

Well ,it seems like i have become a lazy bug . For a couple of weeks i have stopped doin anything but sleeping and whiling away my TIME. Dint even spare some time to write an entry in my blog . But anyways speaking of TIME , the word itself is kinda real heavy for me ,brings out all the preposterous burden from within... reminds me of all the time i have spent in my life , some good , some regrettable and some crazy ...all these moments seem to have past away but all that we treasure are their memories ....i like rejoicing some of those moments .

lemme share with u some of the crazy stuff i had done in my childhood .

* Class 6th (Autumn)

This one is public's favourite , I say it because i remember all the attention i had got after doing such a wierd thing . I was in my sixth class and we were being taught hormones and regeneration in science , i remember how remarkable i felt after reading such stuff . I had gone to my friends place on a weekend to play with him .We were enjoying(playing hide'n'seek), on the terrace when i found something on his water-tank. I peeped through into the shallow waters , expecting myself a place to hide but unexpectedly found a dead cat . Ah! i still remember that sight , The cat was floating with its head above the water , the symmetry was impeccable ... i called out my friend to share my discovery .

He had that curious look in his face that every kid gets on finding something new. He started calculating the body weight ratio of the cat above and below the water ,
then i came up with an idea , it just struck me surprisingly that there wudn't be any better chance , quickly i went to a medical store nearby and bought a syringe for 5 bucks and a plastic container for 3 bucks .Then we went back to that water tank and
removed that cat from the contaminated water , my friend went down to intimidate his parents about this incident , thats when i plunged the syringe under its throat and collected some of it's blood and stored it in that pet container of mine . I went home that day and hid that bottle safely in a refrigerator .

For a few days i was wondering wat i wud do with that blood , then i thought that the blood contained hormones unique to the "cat" species , what wud happen if i cud get that blood into a dog and see what it's effects would be like . It was real crazy for me to have thought abt it that time ,given i dint know abt the blood compatibility and all those hormonal stuff ,but the thing was how would i get the blood into the dog's blood stream. I cudn't plunge a syringe into a living dog cos..i wud no doubt get bitten ,All i cud think was get that stuff somehow into a dog .

I went to my neighbors place and when the dog was having some cornflakes for
breakfast , i mixed the blood with the milk , it gave it a reddish tinge but not enough to get noticed. That dog ate the thing up lavishly...(i knew dogs hate those bloody cats!!).

I went up to my neighbours everyday from that day to look at the changes that i expected on the dog. I was expecting some catty fur to appear , i was even expecting that his bark would get a hybrid tone which i called barkeaow...(barking + meaowing).
But nothing seemed to happen. But the bad thing that happened was my friend spread this tale to all my class-mates and this further spread throughout the school .The teachers came to know about it and asked me strange questions abt how i came up with such a wierd idea . "Well i dont know, i am just a curious kid" was all i could say .

Now looking back at what i had done , it do seem wierd to me , but that time ....dude we were kids and itz all a game and kids do play a lot of them!!

One Night @Anakapalli

Its 2 am , im lying down on the soothing wet grass right between the two sides of Anakapalli bypass,
staring at the sky on the full moon night i think "what a trip it has been"...Never in my life i could have ever imagined that i would be sleeping on a highway rite thru the night watching vehicles fly past me at hastening speeds . The so called Batch trip had turned into a true adventure . Beaches , caves and most importantly "roads , highways and forests " .

Our whole adventure began as a trip to vizag on a private bus hired for 3 complete days. Most suprisingly the bus in which we were travelling had a problem , It had a problem in its radiator and the bus would get overheated every 1 hour and we needed to stop and get that thing cooled down .
This was why a 14 hour journey turned into a 25 hours journey . But after we reached we packed our trip with sight-seeing , first to the rishikonda beach and then rk beach , finally we got to sleep for around 4 hours before we hit for the next day to borra caves. The caves were really awesome , Every one were filled with enthusiasm and vigour to scale those limestone structures . It was a place where natural beauty poured out of every nook and corner , a place where im sure everyone would be awestruck . Finally after the borra caves we decided to take our way back home . We had infact decided to leave early keeping in mind the pathetic condition of our busses.

Our way back home started uneventfully as the bus kept crawling down the hill-slopes ,so slow that im sure i could bicycle down faster . Even as it went down-hill the bus kept getting over-heated . I was sure that these are signs of a disaster . Most of the people were tired , so they dint care and dozed away in that "almost immobile bus" . Before i tell u more , let me make it clear that i chose to write about this because i was a spectator to the whole night's melodrama , luckily i had got enough sleep last night !!

It was 8:30 as i remember when the guys in the bus asked me to tell the bus-driver to stop at a good dhaba . I was the only person there who new both hindi and telugu so i had to act as an interpreter for that journey (phew! atleast for some reason my telugu speaking skills came to good use ...) The bus driver agreed that he would stop at a dhaba at around 9:30 ,every one agreed and i just settled for a small nap , i got up when the bus had stopped . I looked at the watch it was 11:00 , how the hell hadn't he stopped at the dhaba at 9:30 , i ran to the driver and asked him the reason , from the look i new that what the driver had expected the bus to cover in 1 hour , he cudnt manage that even in almost 3 hours . The guys on the bus had already become mad , they were really angry .... from the look of their faces i knew that they were ready to fuck the bus driver at any moment .The driver's face looked as if something was wrong .
I asked him wat happened and he said that the bus has broken down , it is incapable for further journey .Im going to call a new bus from the dhaba , I will try to take you all to the nearest dhaba , i could see the flicker of fear in his eyes , for a moment i felt that he is drunk .
His driving from there had started becoming strange , i called himanshu into the bus-driver's cockpit , and told him what had happened , he was fuming with anger ... i told him to control it till we reach the dhaba or we would be trapped in the forests here ... he remained silent but his rage was cumulating at every metre the bus moved . The driver was finally able to push the bus up till anakapalli bypass .As soon as he stopped he ran out into a small hotel and started hogging and maybe drinking as i could see...That was it ...himanshu called all the hunks out , ketan , amlendu , mangal , kedia ,and syed . we all went to the motel and asked him to come ...the driver
was acting strange . Maybe he had got frightened out of his wits ... he ran to the bus and started it , it looked like he was trying to run away . That was when kedia went in and caught the driver by his collar .... he was drunk heavily , we took away the keys .and brought the conductor and the driver together and made them sit on the stinking pavement beside the bus.
That was when all the 55 guys jumped out of the bus and surrounded the two of them . Every guy was mad at them and were ready to "cut them into as many pieces as possible and mix it with the radiator's acid to act as coolant for the bus "!!
Vulgar accusations flew from every guys mouth ...ketan had become a fuming devil and ran into the driver , caught his face and was about to smother his life out of him . We controlled , no one hurt them but mentally tortured the two of them , they were like captured rats , ready to do whatever we wanted them to.... Then it was time for us to think fast ....
The situation was really intense , there were " 55 hungry guys ready to pounce on the driver as everyone felt that it was somehow there fault ".
Sanrag and Himanshu started asking me to translate a hell lot of things , It was about 2 hours when i continuosly spoke in telugu and hindi alternatively to act as an interface between the victims and the guys , they asked me to ask all sorts of questions about why the bus was malfunctioning rite from the starting . Why had the owner ditched us wantedly by sending a screwed-up bus , We scared them by saying that we would call the police , It was like a huge drama being played on the street . The few people who were still awake came there to watch the free show . I was exhausted ... i was being troubled with 3-4 mobiles simultaneously . I talked to the other drivers , to the secretary , and tried to confirm another bus as soon as possible . I also had to take care of what these two had to say...Every guy demanded to know something from the driver . We raided the bus completely and took all the papers and then asked him to show his license , the driver was drunk and was still driving ,over that ,he dint have a driving license.
That had made things worse .

We checked all the papers , the bus dint have its registration form . The guys now really got angry and then came syed miyan's famous dialogoue "HUM BATARAHEIN HAIN MAUT TUMHARE SAAMNE KHADI HAI" ...that brought a light moment among the peers .
Jokes apart , then it was a stream of phone calls which kedia , sanrag and me were involved in to get the feedback of where the bus was which was being sent from rajmundry .
After we got the confirmation that the bus was coming ,every one began to party , rite on the streets . We played music and every one started dancing , we all were like guys with no limits ,no restrictions and no control . Every one were busy fulfilling their little fantasy to act wierd on the highway at midnight . Then we had some food at a nearby hotel , shot some videos and pictures of the raided bus and partied hard in apprehension for the arrival of the new bus .
These are some of the pictures we shot in those 4 eventful hours at anakaplli bypass.

On the highway!

partying on the road !

On the bus!

A picture with the most memorable bus

Finally our new bus arrived at almost 5am , every one became frenzy and ran into the new bus with their luggage . After settling down , we finally started back to hyderabad with all those memories in our minds .

Whatever people say , any-thing is "never bad unless u feel it is bad ". People must have felt that the Batch trip sucked , but according to me this was the most memorable and adventurous trip i went with my friends .The element of suprise is what makes things intresting and unpredictable.
If things would have gone how it was meant to go ...we would never have had such a wonderful experience ....FINALLY I END IT by saying "BATCH TRIP ROCKED AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ANAKPALLI(the star of the show) ROCKED ".

School Days!! (part 2)

Well ! wat can i say....phew! finally 3rd sem is over and with it i get a chance to keep my blog alive :) . It had been quite a while , i had almost stopped writing.... ny ways , after sailing through this gruesome river which 3rd sem had turned into ... the end results look some-thing like this : firstly i've started suffering from examolaria ( disgust for exams) , secondly the venus eclipse in my life has gone to its peak..
If u dint get what i just said , lemme make it clearer to u , as the old saying goes "girls are from venus " , it appears as if these inhabitants have started disappearing back to where they came from . Leave alone talking , i hate to tell this but in a week i guess that i dont even get 10 glimpses of "girly" life . IIIT known for its awesome ratio (although it guarantees every a girl 500% chance to have a boyfriend even if she has screwed up looks ) ,the funny thing is that the ratio still goes lower when it comes to our branch (ece) so you see thats y guys turn into despo's and instead of doin innovative work on their lappy's start whiling away there time on u know what ! ;)

Talking of girls , i remember my school days where girls , believe me or not , were the majority , i still believe it was my seventh class and there were 20 boys and 22 girls . Almost 3/4th of us had a girl as our bench-partner . It was during this year when i remember a little crappy incident which had happened . Yeh ! there was this girl called VJ (wont expand it for reasons*)
whom i really hated , the reason why i hated her was because i thought she was a big show-off , i felt that she just tried to "use" boys . she was smart too , so u see i had a real grudge on her , I needed to do something to get her ego out of her .. i needed to show our class what she actually was , but the crazy thing was that we were kinda friends till then . So i had an excellent idea to do the right thing for her . This is what i did :

I wrote a small paragraph about her in word-star , we were being taught word-star that time ,
so i wrote some-thing like this :

" Hi!, do u know who im , im the geisha of ur class , but that u all know , i want u to know
something more as well , i put 20 ml of oil on my hair , i mug my maths problems that is why
i score marks in maths . im the class teachers pet and soon i will be invincible , too bad
that they dont know me yet , yes it's me "vj" the queen of class 7 !! "

then i saved the file and transferred it to all the systems in our computer lab , i named the
file as "seventh class student must read" .
The next morning when we had our computer lab , all the students opened the file out of sheer
enthusiasm and my plan went about successfully . Soon she was the topic of the whole class .
All the students started mocking at her , made faces at her , avoided her , spat insults .
I enjoyed these things for a while but soon i could see tears in her eyes . She ran out of the
class and started crying alone , i dont know y the hell i turned centy and went up to her and
confessed that i had written the file .I just cudnt see her cry ,whoever she was and however she was , i told her that i wanted her to change. I told her that i was really sorry if she took it by her heart as i hadnt expected her to do so,The next moment "all hell went loose " ...she stopped crying and started running towards the staff room . Then she came out and started walking back
to me with a strange smile , i dont know how she changed so fast , she came up to me and said ,
"sorry jairaj but vandana mam is calling you ."
What the **** , i said , i cudnt believe that she had complained to vandana mam. She was known for her merciless torture on little kids. She led me silently to vandana mam's class . Mam was teaching english to our seniors , when
she led me in , mam called me and without a second thought SLAPPED ME TIGHT ON MY CHEEK .
That was the first time in my life i had been slapped by a teacher . The first time in my life i was insulted only because i confessed . I had realised my mistake long back and confessed to her that i was sorry , but she still wasn't satisfied , she wanted to see me get punished , thrashed , insulted ...only then would she satisfy and savour her sucking ego....that was the
day , I told her straight " The war had begun " , and the rest three years of my schooling i ensured that i get straight A's and become unbeatable . Thats what happened , i stood first all
through 8th , 9th and 10th and never ever talked to her .

Even if she came with some doubt , i used to say "no politics with me" , and she would go back silently . Maybe she had realised she had done a mistake , she must've tried to apologize but i
had never tried to listen 2 her . And that way the whole thing ended in 10th when all of us parted ....
but the worst thing was that the war had begun but it had not yet ended . I have seen her couple
of times visiting my profile in Orkut , But neither me nor her has ever sent a friend request nor has either of us even scrapped each other . I strongly feel i need to end this so called duel, so i thought i will write it up and maybe she might peep in and may-be this time she will apologize . Even if she doesn't im sure her guilt will make her do it sometime.....

The other end...

ha!
finally after a long break im back ! , well it was not that i had nothing to blog abt but it is this horrible sem which we are having , I feel like the whole of electronics has been packed into one sem , above all including the classes im also being bugged by my interests .I cant quit doing what i want to do and that's the reason behind my sleepless nights . Finally i got some space today , its Ganesh Chaturthi and we (ECE) guys finally have a day off!

So after a while i got time to dream , n i dont know how but yes i suddenly became philosophical . yes guys , i guess u must have already begun to ponder , wat's he tryin to tell... well pepl i guess this post might be kind of boring...but i donno wat makes me write it still....so here it is ,

All day long i was thinking about my dead grandma , she has been dead for almost 2 years now , i was wondering about how she spent her life , according to me her life was quite ordinary , enjoyed life to the fullest , seen her sons and daughters get married and in the end blew away like a "piece whisker floating away freely in a whisp of wind ". I was wondering how she felt when she spent her last days on her death-bed ,knowing fully that she had only a week more to survive .How she was bearing the fact and was getting ready for a new journey to a place "known to many but shared by none ". She must have been basking thru her life and reliving all her favourite flashbacks . I sat beside her asking how she felt . She said that "all i feel is that i could have done better in my life ".
This little sentence haunts me always . I have always wanted to make the most out of my life , this gives rise to a new question , which is HOW? how am i to make my life worth so much that when im in my death bed counting my end i would be completely satisfied with what i had done with my life .Still the question doesnt show me the answer . I have always wanted to make a diffrence ,live a very hardworking life by devoting my life to my interests , but i wonder what i would get in the end ,besides the fact that u need to experience lots of failures to savour success u also will be in the heat of risks all thru ur life, "the other end " always haunts me sayin that you have chosen the wrong path and if u choose the path of an ordinary life u would be much happier .
As far as my experience goes this question is a real mystery to solve , A person finds the other end of the bank more beautiful . I have asked real successful n xperienced people how it feels to be successful and they said that it was a waste of life . They said "all my life i worked but i lost my time ,my valuable time to enjoy the intricacies of life" ,In both cases they feel that the other end is better .Ah ! really troubling , but cant help...can u?
